Wanted to provide an update here. 

Book update: 

The book is in final stages with just the Kickstarter mercs to be added next week. Then its off for a final edit before it comes out to you all as a PDF.  I will be building the backerkit next week so links in next week or so. Merc images are coming along as well. For those Pirate Captain Log backers please get your merc details in ASAP. 

EU BACKERS UPDATE 

Had overwhelming positive feedback so we will go with shipping via Spiral Galaxy to the EU.

EU SHIPPING - THIS ONLY APPLIES TO EU BACKERS

Hi all 

So wanted to give an update on EU shipping and get some feedback from you all and wanted to be as transparent as possible. 

the TLDR of it though is I can ship this project to EU but at higher costs [broken down below].

 So options right now are 

a. I don't ship and refund. 

b. I ship and you pay this higher cost. {shipping with a EU friendly partner based in the UK} 

For example costs are:  For the paperback book this means your looking at around £12-16 shipping [Depending on region] + Vat + 3 euro charge [again explained below but I will be covering this] for the hardcover books depending on region is £13 to £17 [broken down below] + VAT + 3 Euro charge [again explained below but I will be covering this]. This is around 3 euros more on average than what I was initial hoping to charge.

DETAIL 

lets talk details shall we. 

Before we do I would like to remind people that I do not set shipping rates, I do not set VAT rates, I do not decide EU policy or regulations. I state this as previously some people have been particularly unkind in emails towards me. I make zero money from shipping rates and VAT. Each new bit of legislation, registration adds costs, time lost and headache. I am genuinely considering if the EU in its current form is worth to shipping to in future. 

My original plan was to ship with my partners in Italy. Doing so the costs were around £2-3 cheaper on the shipping cost. Doing so would also negate the 3 Euro import that the EU is currently charging on all external orders. However I would still have to charge VAT on the backer kit either way. The new legislation has made this less viable. 

The new plan would be to ship with a UK partner who is IOSS registered and would ensure that there is no import, admin or duty fees for you [outside the 3 euro fee which I will be covering more on below]. 

There are pros to doing this. While shipping is higher, it negates many of the other issues faced and means I can ship. There is other good news to. So shipping 300 books to the EU for distribution has a cost of around £1000+import to me whereas shipping these to the UK is around £60 [This is the cost of me sending books from printers to fulfilment hub].  Even factoring in the Setup costs with the new partner I save around £600-700 quid. Which means in this project I would cover the 3 euro import fee and would not pass on the setup cost with new partner, and would also eat the 6% surcharge as well that they charge! So you would only pay the shipping cost and VAT outlined below. Note the shipping cost does include the cost of packaging. 

The PPWR and EPR are still unfolding so could still present headaches but currently the EU look like they are not in a place to enforce, but with the larger partner they are already looking into how to ensure, 1. They are compliant with the legislation and 2. It doesn't prevent us shipping to you.

*Italy is the hardest hit by increase as I was originally going to ship from within Italy so I have subsidised Italian shipping by £2. 

**Finland was super high! So I am also subsiding these orders by £2 

regions not on this list either had no backer or are outside of the EU and will be shipped to as normal.

The backerkit will also allow you to downgrade to just digital pledge if you wish so please email me once you have done this so I can ensure you are refunded the difference [minus kickstarter fees of 10%]. 

If you would rather be refunded you can let me know that too and I will refund [minus the 10% KS fees that have already been taken].
